Out for summer
I’m literally on a taxi to Taoyuan airport to fly off to Rome to kickstart my summer. Summer is awesome, and there are only so many summers left in a life. I’m following this video to make the most of this summer this year, starting with a lot of beach and sun, and more cycling when I’m back in Taiwan.
This is a “now page”. It’s here to tell you what I’m up to right now, and complimentary to my /about page. You should consider creating one as well
I currently live in Taiwan. Ngl, I have mixed feelings about my time here I’ve finally found my footing here, and it’s mostly come from joining the very vibrant and social road biking scene. For the 4 years I’ve lived here, I never realised that Taiwan is a world-class cycling destination. Even in Taipei, you’re a 15-minute ride on the riverside to +1500m elevation mountains, mint roads, and great cafes.
My theme for 2026 is “community”, i.e. building some. For example, over the past year, I’ve spent a decent amount of time breaking up with the cloud. I’m pretty sure other people in Taipei also have their experience moving from the cloud to a self-hosted life. We should get together and share notes.
I’ve written about taking a break from coding agents in my AI Lent wrap-up post, you should give it a read.
Work-wise… I’ve recently reduced my client committments to be able to have a semi-sabbatical and go back to researching deep learning topics. oolongtechnologies.io, my engineering consultancy, is decently successful.
